New Jersey Job Growth

There were 3,950,300 jobs in New Jersey in April 2013 according to the CES survey of employers. The CPS survey of households showed 4,211,048 employed persons for the month. New Jersey added 3,300 jobs in April 2013 according to the CES survey while the broader CPS employment measure rose by 11,347 (Comparing CES and CPS employment numbers.). CES employment peaked in January 2008 for New Jersey at 4,092,200. Since then 141,900 jobs have been lost in New Jersey according to the employer survey. From a trough of 3,832,900 in September 2010, New Jersey has gained 117,400 jobs according to CES employment figures.

CPS employment in New Jersey reached a maximum of 4,286,870 in February 2008. 75,822 jobs have been lost in New Jersey since then according to the household survey. From a November 2009 low of 4,099,267, New Jersey has added 111,781 jobs according to the CPS survey.
