<p>There were 2,636,400 jobs in Missouri in December 2011 according to the CES survey of employers.  The CPS survey of households showed 2,822,125 employed persons for the month.  <strong>Missouri lost 11,800 jobs in December 2011 according to the CES survey while the broader CPS employment measure rose by 15,219</strong> (<a href="http://www.deptofnumbers.com/blog/2010/05/cps-ces-employment-comparison#ces-cps-difference">Comparing CES and CPS employment numbers.</a>).  CES employment peaked in February 2008 for Missouri at 2,805,800. Since then 169,400 jobs have been lost in Missouri according to the employer survey.
 From a trough of 2,635,500 in February 2011, Missouri has gained 900 jobs according to CES employment figures.

 CPS employment in Missouri reached a maximum of 2,915,001 in January 2007. 92,876 jobs have been lost in Missouri since then according to the household survey.
