California Job Growth

There were 14,602,200 jobs in California in April 2013 according to the CES survey of employers. The CPS survey of households showed 16,951,364 employed persons for the month. California added 10,300 jobs in April 2013 according to the CES survey while the broader CPS employment measure rose by 71,135 (Comparing CES and CPS employment numbers.). Total Employment in California

CES employment peaked in July 2007 for California at 15,213,500. Since then 611,300 jobs have been lost in California according to the employer survey. From a trough of 13,845,300 in February 2010, California has gained 756,900 jobs according to CES employment figures.

CPS employment in California reached a maximum of 17,022,948 in January 2008. 71,584 jobs have been lost in California since then according to the household survey. From a November 2009 low of 15,944,528, California has added 1,006,836 jobs according to the CPS survey.
